From the moment we first stumbled across East Sac Farm, we were smitten. The urban farmstead, run by Morgan Daily (@dailyflourish) and her fiancé, Kyle Haggerty (@urbanfarmstead), has become a fresh, vibrant addition to their east Sacramento community.
We got Morgan in her perfect fit, and then we sat down with her to learn more about the fruits of their labor.
Fitcode in five words or less
MD: brilliant, simple, thorough, and convenient
What were your impressions of the Fitcode experience?
MD: I love everything about the concept and the website: from the design, layout, Fitcode test, to the results! The moment I heard about it, I had to try it and it did not disappoint whatsoever.
How will Fitcode change how you shop for jeans?
MD: I'm not a fan of trying on jeans in stores ... the Fitcode website is so easy to use and the first pair I ordered was perfect (a new staple in my wardrobe) so I will definitely continue to use the site to buy jeans!
What are your favorite denim brands?
MD: Citizens of Humanity, Joes, and Madewell
How would you describe your personal style description?
MD: Mostly classic + casual with a touch of boho. Lots of neutral tones and hats.
Tell us about Urban Farmstead. How did it come about?
MD: My fiancé, Kyle, and I bought our 1930s home in East Sacramento three years ago with the intention of growing enough fruit and vegetables for us to enjoy, preserve, and share with friends and family. Our backyard quickly grew into so much more. We call our urban farmstead East Sac Farms and now have chickens, a community farm stand, and give tips and tours to our visitors.
What’s been your favorite part of the journey?
MD: The sense of community that is created by hosting our farm stand. It brings neighbors together to connect over and share healthy, seasonal food. Also, our feature in Sunset Magazine (July 2017). A dream come true for both of us!
Your yard looks perfect for entertaining. How do you incorporate your space and plants into hostessing?
MD: Kyle and I both love to cook and entertain. We wanted to create a space perfect for growing food and entertaining. Aside from the vegetable garden, the perimeter of the yard is also edible and lined with fruit trees, berry bushes, herbs, and other drought tolerant plants. When entertaining, we base our dishes around what is in season which always results in using the freshest and tastiest ingredients.
Any advice for aspiring gardeners?
MD: Don't be afraid to start or try new things! Most of how we got to where we are today was learning through trial and error.
Who are your female role models?
MD: My mom, Amal Alamuddin Clooney, Malala Yousafzai
Life accomplishment you’re most proud of
MD: Being the first in my family to go to college. I'll be graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Sustainable Environmental Design and minor in Community Development next year.
Beauty/societal double standard you’d like to see done away with
MD: All of them! Mostly those involving womens' knowledge and capabilities in the workforce.

One of the great things about this trend is that any type of jean—whether straight, skinny, boyfriend, or flare—works with embroidery. Check out some of our favorite styles below; then shop styles in your Fitcode.
