Last week, we stumbled across a new YouTube web series called Project WomanKIND and we’re so glad we did. The recently launched series is from five curvy models looking to change the conversation around women’s body image.
After watching the teaser video for the series, we were instantly inspired by the vulnerability and honesty of these five women. Each one shares their own personal journey through body acceptance in hopes of encouraging other women to love their unique shape. This message is so important and something that isn’t highlighted enough. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and we’re glad to see Project WomanKIND bringing that conversation to the forefront.
Watch the teaser trailer below and share your thoughts using the #ProjectWomanKIND hashtag.
We know that finding a good pair of jeans is only part of the equation; putting together an outfit, that’s a whole other headache. How often do you find yourself just staring at the clothes in your closet trying to think of what to wear? Yeah, us too.
In our experience, one of the hardest pieces of denim to style is boyfriend jeans. But when done right, you can instantly look effortlessly chic. To help you out a bit and give you some inspiration, we’ve pulled together four different boyfriend jeans looks.
Enjoy (and happy shopping)!
We have to say, there’s nothing more exciting to us than hearing positive feedback from women who’ve used Fitcode to find a pair of jeans they feel comfortable in. Lately, we’ve worked with a handful of bloggers to try Fitcode and share their thoughts with their readers. Not only are we happy to see that each one LOVED the jeans they selected, but we also love seeing how they styled them.
In the pic above, Elly from Uptown with Elly Brown found a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans that, as you can see, fit her like a glove. (P.S. We’re also working with Elly to give away a free pair of jeans. Only 2 days left to enter!)
Another blogger we worked with was Camilla from Navy Grace (pictured above on the left). After taking our quiz and discovering that her Fitcode is 500, she went with these JOE’s Jeans (on sale right now for $83!).
After seeing Chiara from Pied A Terre blog (pictured above on the right) in the 7 For All Mankind jeans she chose, we couldn’t get over how incredible they looked on her. She absolutely nailed this look.
From her violet hair to her totally unique style, we’re loving everything about Aika’s Love Closet. It was so much fun to see how she styled her new J Brand jeans from Fitcode. She won our hearts with this simple street-style look.
We love working with bloggers and hearing their feedback, but we’d also love to hear from you! Share your pics with us and let us know your thoughts on using Fitcode. Hashtag your photos with #myfitcode.
It’s a happy Friday, indeed! We don’t know about you, but one of our favorite times of year is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s by far one of the best sales of the year—and it just opened up to everyone today! Because there’s so much to choose from and it can be a bit overwhelming (no, really, it can), we decided to share some of our favorite items.
Of course you’ll notice that we’ve selected a few of our favorite jeans including ones from Paige, 7 For All Mankind, JOE’S, and Hudson. There were so many great styles to choose from we had a hard time narrowing it down. We also couldn’t help but to include other items that are on our wish list.
Now that we’ve shared our top picks, let us know what you’ll be picking up at the sale. We hope you have as much fun browsing as we did!
Last week, there was pretty big news in the denim industry. Levi’s announced a new women’s denim collection and their fall brand campaign. Sure, it sounds like no big deal—another season, another marketing campaign, right? Well, we don’t think so.
This campaign is the largest effort from Levi’s aimed at women since debuting their first pair of women’s jeans in 1934. That’s right … 1934! Surprising, no? Women clearly love their jeans, so we’re a little shocked to hear that this is their first attempt to appeal to a broad group of women since 1934. However, we are happy to see Levi’s addressing the importance of creating a denim line for women of all shapes and sizes. For a brand as large as Levi’s (inventors of the original blue jean), we’re surprised it’s taken this long for them to address the gap in the market. But then again, it’s no easy task. Regardless, we’re happy that Levi’s is shedding light on this issue.
Levi’s is also touching on the frustration with finding the perfect pair of jeans. We obviously share in that belief, so it’s great to see a big brand talking about it too. Levi’s CMO, Jennifer Sey, was quoted as saying "A lot of women feel like jeans aren't made for their body shape, and it's a frustrating experience, so we're looking to change that with this new collection."
There are a few other elements of the campaign that got us giddy. For example, we love that Alicia Keys is the face of the campaign. Especially when she kicks off the promotional video stating “All women are naturally badass.” Why yes, we’d have to agree. Can we also just mention how much we love these nostalgic pics of women in their Levi’s.
Overall, we were really excited to see the messaging behind this campaign. There’s still a long way to go when it comes to perfecting fit and truly representing women of all shapes and sizes. We just hope that what we’re doing here at Fitcode is also helping that effort.
We love our denim blues, but sometimes a girl just needs a good pair of comfortable black jeans. The best thing about black denim is you can dress them up or down so easily. We’re also big fans of wearing black from head-to-toe sometimes.

Hello, fellow jeans lovers! I’m Cari from the Fitcode team, and I’m excited to introduce myself to you.
Here’s a little bit about me ... I'm the mama to a super active 4-year-old boy, and believe strongly in a marriage of fashion and comfort. Never sacrifice one for the other! You’ll often find me in skinny jeans and Birkenstocks. My typical weekend this summer has consisted of hanging out in Lake Washington (on a floatie with a cup holder!), obsessing over my house plants, and making Açaí smoothies.
Here at Fitcode, my job title is ‘Jeanius’ (best job title EVER) and as you might expect, I spend a lot of time geeking out on jeans. Between hand selecting, measuring, helping film, and writing about all the various jeans and washes for our site, I have a lot of denim on the brain! My happiest moments at Fitcode happen when I read that a user selected a jean they never would have thought of, AND LOVED THE FIT!
Since I do have denim on the brain, I thought I’d share my four favorite skinny jeans with you. My Fitcode is 710 and I am 5’ 9” for your consideration, yet most of these are a universally great fit, so be sure to see if they're in your Fitcode too!
The Maria in Graphite from J Brand. I can’t express how good these feel! They’re a high waist skinny, but just enough to feel supported in the middle. Also, they don’t go above the belly button. The fit I own is a super skinny fit, but there is a Maria Straight Leg option now too if your ankles get claustrophobia. I bought the Graphite wash (a black jean) which has J Brand’s Photo Ready fabric: A thicker denim for shape support (which I love in a skinny jean)—it’s so stretchy and comfortable! It will stack a little at the ankles which is always chic in the fall but I’ve been cuffing them a little for summer.
This is me in the Maria in Graphite (be sure to go up a size as we recommend).
The Ami Super Skinny Long from NYDJ. This is a skinny jean that is made for curves! It has a nice high rise and a body hugging fit in soft stretchy denim. Perfect for a curvy body—this isn’t another narrow cut skinny. This brand isn’t all ‘mom jeans’ anymore (as a mom, I’m not sure what that even means anyway). They have some really stylish new washes and fits. You get all the fashion of a skinny jean with the curve-friendly, well-made designs of NYDJ. One thing I love about this brand is they come in a wider range of sizes—more fits for more bodies!
Here is Katie, our talented designer, modeling the Ami in the Eureka wash.
The Verdugo in Vista from Paige. This brand knows how to make comfortable skinny jeans! You’ll want to wear these all week and grab them out of the wash first every time. Seriously, I could do yoga in these! The Verdugo is mid rise perfection with a body hugging fit. It comes in an ankle version too if you need less length or just want to show off your shoes. The Vista wash is a medium blue fade you can wear anytime of year. It’s also made with Paige’s Transcend fabric which you’ll swear is next to jammies in softness and doesn’t get those bunchy stretch lines.
The Verdugo in the luxuriously soft Vista wash.
The Racer in Patina from Citizens of Humanity. This is my all-time favorite “I know my booty looks good in these jeans” jeans. It’s cut smaller in the hips so we have the recommendations set to size up for you if this is in your Fitcode. These puppies are a low rise, so prepare to feel sexy! The low placement of the back pockets will make your butt look perky! The 3D shadowing on these are really slimming too. There is a little more room in the ankle and knee than a regular skinny, and they look great cuffed with sandals. Citizens always makes high-quality jeans that will last you a long time and will look even better with wear.

Hope you love these skinnies as much as I do!
Now that the fireworks, celebration, and long weekend are over, it’s back to the grind. If you’re anything like us, it’s been a bit rough getting back into the groove (and it’s only Tuesday!). So to lift your spirits, we’re sharing some of our favorite denim sales happening right now (you can thank us later).
If there were ever a good time to purchase new jeans, it’s now! Retailers and denim brands alike are making room for new styles, which makes it a great time to stock up on new threads from some of your favorite brands. We’ve done our research and want to share the best deals out there with you.
Check out the below sales. Bonus: We’re also sharing our favorite discounted jeans from each site.
And of course, we can’t forget about the great deals at Nordstrom. It’s impossible to choose just one style from all of the fab ones they have on sale right now, so we’ll just let you have fun browsing.
Hello, denim friends!
I’m going to make a slight departure from our normal denim-focused posts today and reflect on something much bigger and half as blue, our good ol’ country the United States of America. It’s been a big week for us Americans. The Pacific Northwest is going on our second straight week of 80+ degree weather (thank you sun Gods), the Supreme Court ruled that love truly does conquer all (thank you SCOTUS), and the USA Women’s national team advanced to the World Cup final (thank you Carli Lloyd). Oh, and this Saturday is our great nation’s birthday. I told you, big week.
I’ve always been a patriot. I was born and raised in small town USA. I grew up without the shackles of a society that believes women are less than. I had the freedom to question, explore, fail, and fly. And I mean really fly… I used to jump off my parents roof with a trash bag “parachute” over my head. Sorry about that, mom. I had the freedom to go to school and all the opportunities that an education affords. I could run fast, fall hard, but fight harder. I had these freedoms because of the country I was born into and it’s a privilege I will always be thankful for.
I’ve digressed, denim lovers, talking about freedom can do that to a gal! So while I’ll be back next week to bring you all the latest in skinny jeans and trouser legs, for now I want to encourage all of you to throw on your star spangled best this 4th of July and take a moment to realize how truly blessed we all are to live in this great country. Can I suggest these stars and stripes denim cut-offs?
Happy 4th of July all, go team USA!
